Konstantinos (Kostas) E. Psannis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. Kostas received a degree in Physics (Department of Physics, founded in 1928), Faculty of Sciences, from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH, founded in 1925) (Greece), and the Ph.D. degree from the School of Engineering and Design, Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering of Brunel University (UK). From 2001 to 2002 he was awarded the British Chevening scholarship. The Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The programme makes awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study at universities in the UK. In parallel with his Ph.D., he has also worked as a joint Research Assistant in several funded R&D projects (EU-ICT) as a member of Wireless Networks & Communications Research Group. During his Ph.D. he also gained experience as a teaching and Laboratory assistant at undergraduate level as well as at postgraduate level and co-supervised undergraduate/ postgraduate dissertations (Master Science (MSc) Data Communications Systems). From 2002- present, Dr Kostas E. Psannis is Visiting Post-Doctorial Research Scientist in the Department of Scientific and Engineering Simulation, Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya Institute of Technology (NIT, founded in 1905), Japan. He has been working in several research projects in the following area: Core technology to achieve ubiquitous digital media of high quality and high functionality of audio, visual, haptic, olfactory and realize high-realistic media communications. Moreover, during his working visits to Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan, Dr. Kostas E. Psannis has conducted several lecture series in the area of ubiquitous big data/digital media communications and its applications to postgraduate-research- students. He was awarded, in the year 2006, a research grant by IISF (Grant No. 2006.1.3.916), competent authority: Cabinet Office, Government of Japan. Since 2004 he has been a (Visiting) Assistant Professor in the Department of Technology Management, University of Macedonia, Greece, where currently he is Assistant Professor (& Departmental LLP/Erasmus-Exchange Students Coordinator and Higher Education Mentor) in the Department of Applied Informatics, School of Information Sciences, University of Macedonia.Greece. From 2005 to 2006 he was (Visiting) Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Engineering and Telecommunications, University of Western Macedonia, Greece. Dr. Psannis has extensive experience in multidisciplinary course development, directorship and delivery, in the area of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Systems. From 2004, he has been teaching several courses (Broadband Communication Technologies and Services, Multimedia Technologies Management,Convergence of Communications Systems, Digital Telecommunications, Telecommunications Systems and Applications, Internet Technologies, Computer Networks, Telecommunications Systems Administration and Security, Mobile Communications Systems, Wireless Communications Systems, Digital Systems and Applications, and Mobile & Wireless Communications for ERASMUS students) at undergraduate level and supervised several dissertations, in the University of Macedonia, Greece. From 2014 he has been teaching, Information Technology Infrastructure, in the Graduate Program of the Department of Applied Informatics, Specialization: E-Business and Innovation Technology and Ubiquitous Communications and Data, Specialization: Computer Systems and Network Technologies at postgraduate level. From 2015 he has been (co-) teaching, Computer Networks and Informatics Technologies in the Interdepartmental Programme of Postgraduate Studies in Information Systems, University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece. From 2015 he has been teaching, Software and Networking Technologies, in the Postgraduate Courses, Pervasive and Mobile Computing Systems MSc, School of Science & Technology, Hellenic Open University, Greece. From 2017 he has been teaching, Communications & Informatics Technologies in the Interdepartmental Programme of Postgraduate Studies in Master in Law and Informatics, University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece.

He has also extensive research, development, and consulting experience in the area of telecommunications technologies. He has been actively involved with research in various aspects of digital signals\media delivery and communications systems. Dr. Psannis' research spans a wide range of Digital Media Communications, media coding/synchronization and transport over a variety of net!works, both from the theoretical as well as the practical points of view. His recent work has been directed toward the demanding digital signals and systems problems arising from the various areas of ubiquitous big data/media and communications. This work is supported by research grants and contracts from various government organisations. Dr. Psannis has published several papers in learned journals (Publishers: USA/JAPAN) in the area of digital signals\media delivery and communications systems and its applications. Since 1999 he has participated in several R&D funded projects in the area of Creative/Social/Industrial ICT - Information Sciences and Technology -System Information Sciences- Convergence ICT Systems (EU and JAPAN). Dr. Psannis has participated in joint research works funded by Telecommunications Advancement Foundation Japan and Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C) of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Kostas received a joint-research Award from the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE- was established in May, 1917), Japan, Technical Committee on Communication Quality, July 2009 and joint-research Encouraging Prize from the IEICE Technical Committee on Communication Systems (CS), July 2011. Kostas Psannis was invited to speak on the EU-Japan Co-ordinated Call Preparatory meeting, Green & Content Centric Networking (CCN), organized by European Commission (EC) and National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT)/ Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Japan (in the context of the upcoming ICT Work Programme 2013) and International Telecommunication Union. (ITU-founded in 1865), SG13 meeting on DAN/CCN, Berlin, July 2012, amongst other invited speakers. Dr. Psannis was invited on the Excellence in Higher Education Conference organized by HELLENIC REPUBLIC, Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious Affairs, Athens, Greece, in December 2012, to present a poster. He was also invited to speak on the Technology Forum 2014 [ppt], organized by Federation of Hellenic Information Technology & Communications Enterprises (SEPE), SEPVE.org, Federation of Industries of Northern Greece (FING), Centre for Research and Technology-Hellas (CERTH), and the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT), Thessaloniki, CERTH, Greece, in June 2014. His current professional research interests are Creative/Social/Industrial ICT - Information Sciences and Technology -System Information Sciences- Convergence ICT Systems: Ubiquitous Communications and Big Data/Advanced Cloud Infrastructures/Connects Everyone and Everything- Mobile Cloud Tranmission/Streaming/Synchronization, Haptic Communication between Humans and Robots, Technologies for Creative Industries, Social media and Convergence- Future Media/Data Broadcasting/Steaming-Internet- Future Net! Works, Experiments on International Connections (E-ICONS) over TEIN3 (Pan-Asian), Science Information Network (SINET, Japan), GRNET (Greece)-Okeanos Cloud, and GEANT (European Union) dedicated high capacity connectivity [DANTE - Letter OF SUPPORT to Experiments on International Connections for Haptic Transmission (E- ICONS HAPTIC MISSION) proposal- for Horizon 2020 ICT- Future Internet Research and Experimentation]. He has several publications, as a lead author and joint papers, in international Conferences, books chapters and peer reviewed journals (Publishers: USA/JAPAN).

He is currently GOLD member committee of IEEE Broadcast Technology Society (BTS) and a member of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES), TC on Cloud and Wireless Systems for Industrial Applications. From 2017 Prof. Kostas E. Psannis serving as an Associate Editor for IEEE Access and IEEE Communications Letters. He is Guest Editor for the Special Issue on Architectures and Algorithms of High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) Standard for Real‐Time Video Applications (2014), Journal of Real Time Image Processing (Special Issue). He is Guest Editor for the Special Issue on Emerging Multimedia Technology for Smart Surveillance System with IoT Environment (2016), The Journal of Supercomputing (Special Issue). He is Guest Editor for the Special Issue on Emerging Multimedia Technology for Multimedia-centric Internet of Things (mm-IoT) (2016), Multimedia Tools and Applications (Special Issue). He is Guest Editor for the Special Issue on Recent Advances in Mobile Cloud Computing (2017), Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing (Special Issue). The candidate should be fluent in English, and also should have good teamwork skills. Strong programming skill in C/C++ is required. Proficiency in MATLAB. Track record of successful projects in algorithm design and ICT product development. Excellent communication skills, solid work ethic, and a strong desire to write production-quality code.
